Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to identify and explain the purpose of the major controls on their camera (e.g., mode dial, shutter button, aperture ring, ISO settings, etc.) and how each function affects their photography.

Participants will understand the relationship between aperture, shutter speed, and ISO (the exposure triangle) and will be able to adjust these settings to achieve proper exposure in various lighting conditions.

Participants will become familiar with the various shooting modes (e.g., Auto, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Manual) and understand when and how to use them for different shots.

Participants will learn how to use autofocus and manual focus, as well as how aperture settings influence depth of field (blurred background vs. sharp focus), to control the look of their images.

Participants will gain an understanding of basic composition rules (e.g., rule of thirds, leading lines, symmetry) and how to apply them to create visually appealing photographs.

Participants will learn how to review their photos effectively using their camera’s playback functions, understand common issues (e.g., exposure, focus), and use this feedback to improve their technique.
